Starters with bacon
Tasty and full of fat, bacon can be eaten plain with bread or used as an ingredient in quick, easy and tasty dishes.
Here are four delicious bacon starters to serve at the start of a dinner party.
Puff pastry breadsticks with bacon
Roll out a sheet of puff pastry, brush it with beaten egg, sprinkle with Parmesan cheese and place slices of bacon on one half. Fold over the free side, brush with egg and sprinkle with sesame seeds. Cut the pastry into strips, fold them over and place them on a baking tray. Bake at 180 °C for 15 minutes.
Asparagus wrapped with bacon
Steam the asparagus so that it remains crispy. Wrap two of them in one or more slices of bacon, place them on a buttered baking tray and put them in the oven for a few minutes. Sprinkle with parmesan shavings and leave to cool before serving.
Polenta and bacon sticks
Prepare the polenta according to the instructions. As soon as it is ready, pour it onto a baking tray and level it. Cover with film and leave to cool. Once solidified, cut into sticks and wrap them with a slice of bacon. Place them on a baking tray and bake at 200° for 15 minutes.
Piadine with bacon and radicchio
Bacon can be used to stuff piadina, together with radicchio or any other type of salad. Place garlic, parsley, oil and pepper in a blender to create a smooth sauce. Clean and wash the radicchio, slice it and cook it on a hot grill greased with oil, so that it becomes crispy. Heat up the piadina and stuff it with the sauce, bacon and radicchio.
