Sweet and sour Tropea onions
Sweet and sour Tropea onions are so good! An extremely appetising side dish that can be prepared quickly and kept in the fridge for several days.
Sweet and sour Tropea onions. Ingredients
- 700g of Tropea red onions
- 30g of sugar
- Red wine vinegar to taste
- Extra virgin olive oil to taste
- Salt to taste
How to prepare sweet and sour Tropea onions
Peel the onions, wash them, pat dry with kitchen paper and cut them into slices, not too thin.
Heat a few tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil in a large pan and add the onions, salt them lightly and cook over a high flame for a few minutes, stirring often.
Now add the sugar, stir and finally add a generous amount of red wine vinegar. Continue cooking over high heat, stirring constantly.
The sweet and sour Tropea onions are ready when the vinegar has completely evaporated. It is important that they remain slightly crunchy, they should not stew. Enjoy your meal!
