Traditional Calabrian sweet bocconotti recipe

  • 300 g of "0" or "00" type flour
  • 130 g of sugar
  • 1 whole egg + 1 egg yolk
  • 1 grated lemon zest
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • 1 piece of butter (for greasing the ramekins)
  • 1 apricot, figs and chocolate o cherry jam
  • powdered sugar

 

How to prepare Calabrian sweet bocconotti recipe

 

To prepare the bocconotti, start by mixing together the flour, eggs, sugar, softened butter and grated lemon zest. Continue mixing until the dough becomes smooth and homogeneous.

After that, you have to divide the dough into small portions and form balls. For the filling, put the jam of apricot , fig and chocolate  or cherry, in a separate bowl.

This is funny because you can filling it to your liking or inventing new taste.

Preheat the oven and butter the molds and then place the stuffed bocconotti inside. Bake in the oven for about 20-25 minutes.

Once cooked, leave the bocconotti to cool and sprinkle icing sugar on top.
