- 8 red onions from Tropea igp
- 100 gr of breadcrumbs
- 50 gr of seasoned pecorino cheese
- extra virgin olive oil flavoured with hot pepper
- salt and pepper to taste
How to prepare the Tropea red onion pgi au gratin
Start by cleaning and slicing the PGI Tropea red onions.
In a bowl, add the breadcrumbs, seasoned pecorino cheese, a little salt and ground pepper, and mix everything together. Place the Tropea red onion slices on a lightly oiled baking tray and sprinkle with breadcrumbs.
Add a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil with hot pepper and place in the oven.
Check the browning and baking after the first 5-6 minutes, being careful not to let the onions dry out.
Serve warm with a good glass of red wine.
